Pickleball
Overview
Pickleball is one of the fastest‑growing sports in the UK and offers an enjoyable, accessible way to stay active here in the West Wight. Combining elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis, it’s played on a smaller court with lightweight paddles, making it easy to learn and suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
We offer a full pathway of pickleball sessions to support players at every stage:
Introduction to Pickleball
A coached session led by an instructor, ideal for anyone completely new to the sport. You’ll learn the basic rules, scoring system and the most common techniques used in the game. With a maximum group size of 4, this session provides plenty of guidance and time to practise. These sessions are arranged on demand — please enquire at Reception and we will organise a session at a time that suits the individual or group.
Beginner Sessions
Designed for those who have completed an Introduction to Pickleball session and want to build confidence before joining mixed‑ability play. With a maximum of 12 participants, these sessions offer a supportive environment with opportunities to take breaks when needed. This is not an instructor led session.

Mixed Ability Sessions
Suitable for players of all abilities who are already familiar with the game, these longer sessions can accommodate up to 20 players, creating natural rest periods between matches while still offering plenty of active play. This is not an instructor‑led session — instead, it’s a relaxed, social opportunity to practise your skills, play with people of different abilities and continue improving your game in a friendly environment.

Coaching Sessions
Tailored coaching is available for players of all abilities — from beginners looking to build confidence after learning the basics, to intermediate players wanting to refine specific shots or improve their match play. Sessions can be arranged individually or for small groups, offering focused guidance to help you develop your skills and progress at your own pace.
For enquiries, please email kay.montagu@westwight.org.uk or leave your contact details at Reception.
