Clare Griffin, manager of West Wight Sports and Community Centre, is a finalist for Sunday Times Vitality Grassroots Sportswoman of the Year 2019.
The winner is decided by public vote before November 18 and the centre is seeking support far and wide.
Voting takes seconds if you click the link below.
Clare would be a deserving winner of the award, which rewards dedication to community sport. Under Clare’s leadership, the centre has grown from one swimming pool into a busy complex with two pools, a gym, a sports hall, a climbing wall, a café, exercise studios and a community space.
Our facilities are used by more than 1,800 people every week, which makes the centre an essential community hub.
The award would raise the profile of the centre and help with grant fundraising (as an independent charity, the centre does not receive IW Council funding).
It would also be encouraging to see Isle of Wight sport in the national limelight.
