Freshwater Cabaret which took place on Friday 16th March, in the Community Centre, brought together local acts who performed songs, poems and comedy from a variety of genres of decades. The sell out event proved to be a big hit with all attending with many asking for another similar event to be hosted again by West Wight Sports & Community Centre.

Clare Griffin, Centre Manager, spoke of her thanks to all who helped make the night a success;
“On behalf of everyone at West Wight Sports & Community Centre (Trustees, staff and users), I would like to say a huge thank you to Maggie French for organising tonight’s event and an equally huge thank you to every one of the performers.”
She went on to discuss the importance of the Centre as a whole;
“This event was a fund raiser for our charity and events like this help enormously to both generate much needed income but also to raise the profile of what the Centre now provides. We are now providing such a huge range of activities which include events like this but also services which support vulnerable people in our community, giving them somewhere to come and socialise and feel safe. This, as well as all the varied sports and physical activities we offer, means that we have become a hub for the West Wight, providing a programme of activities which supports the wider health and well-being of our community.”
If you have an idea for an event we could put on in the Community Centre please feel free to let us know!
