The Solent Swim is now seven weeks away.
Among the 70 swimmers-in-training is Marianne Su Yin, who lives in Totland and is the owner of Whistle and Hound in Freshwater.
Marianne has been training since February, when the sea was at its coldest.
Marianne said: “I have never had formal swimming lessons, so I am re-learning how to swim properly without sinking.
“I swim up to 1km, 5 days a week, in the sea or pool, plus a spot of running and weight training for strength and yoga for mobility.
“This will be my first Solent Swim and I have a beach hut at Colwell. I hope there will be a welcoming party and a glass of something fizzy if I get to the other side.”
