Volunteering at West Wight Sports Centre

Volunteer at West Wight Sports Centre

Maureen Barnard made our Christmas Tree for the Brighstone Christmas Tree Festival

As part of a new initiative, West Wight Sports Centre are using more and more volunteers in and around the centre to support the work that is going on already and start up new projects to raise funds and increase the variety of services offered.  Funding cuts have meant that we need to be ever more creative to keep the Centre open.

Different roles already being done by volunteers are working in the Junior and Senior Youth Club, helping with the Duke of Edinburgh Award group and supporting the Rockhoppers Fun Swim – swimming session for children with special needs, their families and friends.

We always need more people who can deliver leaflets and posters locally and to schools, we need volunteers to run both a Book Club and a Charity Coffee morning.  We need a trampoline spotter to support our trampolining class for children, fund raisers for bag packing at the Coop and we need a variety of people who can be sports/swimming buddys for people who need help to use the centre’s facilities.

There are always our events such as the Solent Swim, the Triathlon, bag packing at the Coop, Christmas Party and Quiz which need plenty of volunteers too.

However old or young you are and whatever your interest area, there is a probably some volunteering you can do at the Sports Centre.

If you are interested then please contact Joy Mowle (Volunteer Coordinator) on joy.mowle@westwight.org.uk   Tel: 752168 or leave your contact details at reception.
