West Wight Kingfishers are a group of adult swimmers with learning disabilities. They meet every Thursday at the West Wight Sports and Community Centre and are part of the Isle of Wight Special Olympics.
The benefit to our members does not just lie in the swimming. It is a social gathering, building up friendships and relationships, a very happy and important part of their lives. Kingfishers is also a long established group going back almost to the building of the pool.
Swimmers can have coaching, take part in the one hour postal swim, and our annual sponsored swim, but many of our members just enjoy social swimming at their own level.
There is always help available from our volunteer helpers, and from our swimming teachers.
